The Zune 80 GB will initially only be available in Black (what! no Brown!!) and is a hard drive model.
Hardware Differences from the Zune 30:
27% Smaller: 4.26 x 2.41 x 0.51 (from 4.43 x 2.47 x 0.65)
14 % Larger Screen: 3.2 inches (from 3.0 inches)
20% Lighter: 4.5oz (from 5.6oz)
Zune Software Features that all Zunes will have (including the existing 30GB Zune via firmware update):
- Wireless sync: wirelessly updates content on the device when it is within range of the PC with the Zune Collection on it, or on the same wireless network.
- Expanded wireless send capabilities. You can now keep a track for three plays and send a track you have been sent, to other Zune owners.
- Lossless playback will be supported on every Zune
- Podcasting – that is, automatic RSS based subscription to both audio and video podcasts via Zune Marketplace.
- You Will be able to sync your Vista Media Center TV content to your Zune and watch it on the go.
- Updated device UI.

THANKYOU Zune things, i bought the first zune a while ago it is great. now i want the new one. thanks for beating unexplainable gap in microsofts strategy. the uk needs good mp3 players as well.
As a UK-er and a Zune owner, I have to say that I’ve been delighted with the sound and picture quality so far.
I’ll have no hesitation in purchasing the 80 shortly and look forward to applying the firmware update to my 30 before the new one arrives (Great step Microsoft!).
Yes, it’s such a pity that the Zune isn’t actually released here officially (yet?) as that means that the Zune Marketplace is ‘out of bounds’. Let’s hope we can join the Zune Social site though, as that looks like a great added bonus and good fun.

The newly opened official Zune forums (the ‘Social’ thing) will not allow registrations from outside the USA so be wary of this if you’re considering purchasing a Zune.
You can sign up to the Zune Forums and Zune Tag by using a new LiveID and putting your location as USA.
